Many people have an aversion to the truth... so are therefore made very uncomfortable by people who tend to utter it. Many people have a whole persona (or even a business model) which is built on fragile web of lies and deceit. People tend to attack things that make them uncomfortable.

- "You are full of shite!"
"I command my five thousand Facebook friends to rise up and attack you with pointy things!"
- "Help, Help! I'm being attacked by a toothless kitten! It's ferociously licking my big toe!"
"I had a great audition today... but I can't tell you about it!"
- "Stop it! Stop it now!"
"How dare you shatter my fragile ego! I am a fully validated voiceoverist-person. I belong to all the voicy-groups on Faceplant... I paid five grand for for my demo with Voiceover-Superstar Demos & Kebab House... and I've recorded a friend's answering machine message! They actually paid me as well! I shall now complain about you bitterly and call you names in my blog!"
