I also picked up the AG03 for this reason. It is slightly noisier than my audient ID14 and 22, but it is ridiculously simple to use, and George said the Noise level was negligible.
Quote: | So just so we are using the same terminology, you are saying that you can send the output of the DAW and the Mic input signal back to Skype without mixing in the input that is coming FROM Skype? So the client will not hear themselves back, and all over USB? |
To answer Jason's question, the AG03 WILL record the client if you leave loopback switched on, but there will be no feedback. (For example, I was testing it out when skyping with a friend, and they had no idea they were being recorded until I played it back for them.) This feature is best if you wish to record both sides of a coaching session or interview, but you have to physically switch the unit to Dry if you don't want to record anything from the client's end. _________________ "There's Magic all around us; you just have to see it. Just seeing this post but...
I put together a quick "How To" on this which is available in pdf at:

George Whittam did a video on it too.
Recently I went ahead and bought a Yamaha AG03 which turns out to me a bit easier though.

There's always JACK:
http://justinsbarrett.com/dont-know-jack-about-sending-audio-to-skype/
I have it, it seems to work pretty good. The link has a step by step, and unless I'm misunderstanding you guys, should do what you need to do without having to use a mixer that has a lower quality preamp. If it does what I think you guys are describing, it's also a lot cheaper than a mixer. _________________ "The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve." - Buddha

Okay I decided to go the hardware route and ordered a Mackie 802 VLZ4.
I am assuming I can do playback with this. (?) |

After looking at the features, I don't see a Loopback feature like you find on the Yamaha AG03.
Keep in mind that without the "loopback" feature, Skype only recognizes channel 1
Good luck

Arturia's new Audiofuse interface has a talkback feature, and a dedicated built in mic just for that purpose. It also appears to have impressive specs for it's size and price point, possibly beating out the ID22.

I haven't figured out of the built in preamps can be truly bypassed or not yet though, which would be a deal breaker for some.
I have their "microbrute" analog synthesizer ... great bit of kit for fun synth playing _________________ "The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve." - Buddha

Lance Blair uses the mackie for it's preamp and routing. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you trouble shoot.

I have used a Mackie Mixer (Currently 402 VLZ4) and Scarlett 2i4for some time to send audio. It's really very easy. Remember, Skype and FaceTime are only able to use Channel 1 (or, yours may say Channel A or Left Channel). So, here's how mine is setup:
1: I use two IN channels on the Mackie. Channel 1 is MIC and Channel 2 is AUDIO OUT from the Scarlett - which carries computer audio.
2: From the Scarlett, I take Channel 1 OUT and run it to the Channel 2 line level IN on the Mackie.
3: Then, I simply run a LEFT Channel OUT from the Mackie to the Channel 1 IN to the Scarlett. This puts both MIC and Computer Audio back through Channel 1. As a result, whichever you have potted up on the Mackie feeds Channel 1 on the Scarlett - and therefore feeds Skype or FaceTime.
Hope that makes sense. _________________ Dave Waters
