Hey, here's a question.
I have a problem playing audio in any internet browser while Audition 3.0 is running at the same time. I think I had this figured out a long time ago but forgot what the issue was.

Got any ideas?

I use Audition CC, but I've had this happen when my Mac either spontaneously or otherwise (mind control is a suspect) lost its settings-selection for audio device. I do know that if no device is selected, the Mac won't default to its inboard audio, but instead will allow browser audio to remain silent until I figure out that nothing is selected. This seems to happen from time to time for no apparent reason.

You may be using a PC, in which case the above may be moot. Computers and audio driver/device pairing remains a slightly dicey proposition, though--even in This Day And Age.

One more thought--when this happens with my setup, I not only can't hear browser audio, but I can't play video either.

I am on PC although a video will play but I can't hear audio if I am running Audition at the same time. It only does one or the other

Does this happen with any other DAWs? What interface are you using?

Also does it with Sound Forge Audio Studio 9. Using Focusrite Forte.
Tried using both release Asio checked and unchecked. Also tried allowing and not allowing apps to take exclusive control as well as give and not give exclusive modes priority in my control panel.

Cool! See, I got you to ask more questions which led you to the answer. The Socratic Method of gear troubleshooting.

I had some ipDTL issues recently which were resolved by changing my Cubase "VST Link" settings from 24 bit to 16 bit. Weird! Kevin Leach asked me about my 16 bit settings, and that led me to the answer. Smile

Hey Eddie, I'm glad to know you figured this out. My solution for this problem is to use my audio interface for my DAWs (Pro Tools, RX and Sound Forge) only and route the PC audio (using a separate cable) to a channel on my mixer. Then when I want to watch a video or listen to some music on my workstation, I just bring up that fader and play away. Otherwise, it stays all the way down so I don't get any unwanted noise in my audio chain.
