Just wondering how you might say that (without it rhyming with 'retire,' which is my problem).
P.S. I must confess I sometimes agonize over where I put a simple Q like this: Chat or Learn? _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

Put an extra beat in between reach and higher. It's possible that you are saying it as one word...reachigher. Try saying reach a higher several times in a row, and then say reach higher. When you say reach a higher, you are dropping your tongue down and your mouth opens a little more, so that your mouth is in the position to say the word higher correctly.

Is the word "retire" in the sentence? Is that the problem?
Since "higher" DOES rhyme with the back half of "retire" - I'm not sure what you mean? _________________ Playing for a living...

I know what she means. When combined (quickly, especially), the words reach higher could easily come out sounding like retire. I think if you consciously try to hit the "h" a little harder, you will naturally separate the two words enough to make them more distinct. |

Emphasize the "ch" on 'reach' and you will also get a distinct separation between the two words.. i.e.: "reaCH higher".

I realize we are solving the world's problems with this exercise. Hooray!
Actually, it was a small query. I was saying that tag line the other day and, to me, it was melding into one word and sounded like a rhyme to 'retire.' It's just one of those regular clients who sends me various lines like that and I get the impression it matters little to him. It's what I hear, and it was bothering me on a Monday morning. Anyway, I'll bet it has run its course already on the tube, and I'm no longer wringing my hands.
Thanks for playing! _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!
