Quick question -- when doing audiobooks or long form, what type of hardware/software combo are you using to read from? Tablet? Computer screen? Are you just using the regular Adobe Acrobat to read .Hobo LaughingF's and whatever is the default for other documents?

I just wanted to see if my current way of doing things could be improved. Right now I have an iPad and Android tablet I can use for reading, along with the a Macbook Air if I want (it does the recording, but I can use it for reading too).

I'm using an iPad 2 with the aHobo Tounge called "Annotate Hobo LaughingF." It allows the marking-up of PDFs and creation of text blocks (and perhaps more), but original text can't be edited.

To make reading very easy (on the eyes), I first create the script in Word, with a left margin of 3.25 inches, and 14-point type. This shorter line length makes reading ahead easier, and it leaves room on the left side of the page for any notes.

There are other iPad Hobo LaughingF aHobo Tounges, but I don't know anything about them.

My 24" screen is big enough to run both the recording software and the book (usually a Word doc). I scroll the mouse wheel while I'm speaking and that seems to cover it up.

I keep the DAW visible off to one side so I can see that it's still recording. Nothing worse than narrating into space with no capture.... been there, done that. Embarrassed

Thanks guys, it seems that large monitors are popular Smile

Has anyone experimented with auto-scrolling aHobo Tounges? If I find the time I have a few teleprompter aHobo Tounges that I may play around with for fun. Combined with a punch & roll setup, it might make for an interesting setup.

I've never heard/seen anyone try something like this. As usual, I'm the guy that's never quite satisfied with the status quo and willing to experiment a bit...lol
