I don't even know if I am using the correct terminology here.

Some websites only allow putting links to your clips, that must be posted on a third party website, such as SoundCloud.

Which providers will allow posting a clickable sound file right on the web page?

Don't know if I said this right but I think you know what I am asking.

I need SIMPLE and CHEAP!

If you're talking about websites like VO-BB, our older software doesn't allow for embedding of audio and video, just links to those items at other sources such as SoundCloud and YouTube, or from folders on your own site. There are some other sites that clearly allow you to post your audio and video such as the dreaded pay to play VO sites.

If you're talking about your own personal site, every ISP allows you (or should) to embed anything you want in your web pages. You just have to find the right software (website building program) that helps you do that. There a dozens of free and cheap options there.

Sorry I was so vague about this.

I am talking about building a personal VO website and putting up my own demo. Maybe the term that I am looking for is "webplayer".

Some of the cheaper ISPs do not have the ability to play a demo right on the page that one is visiting. Clicking a link will open a webplayer on SoundCloud or some other provider.

Any modern browser should support the <audio> tag, so you don't need a plugin for audio any more. Your ISP may limit the amount of bandwidth you are permitted to consume per month, but other than that it should be just a matter of uploading the audio file and including the <audio> tag in the web page.

There's a tag for video as well, but I'm not sure it's widely supported yet...

If you're asking about cheap/free websites with ability to post audio files...
www.webs.com

.... but you still need to buy a domain.

OK, it sounds like you're starting from scratch. There are two "free" website builders that let you drag and drop components to create a decent looking site, and I'm sure there are audio and video players available. There are more than these but they're two big ones. Wix.com and Weebly.com , and while you're at it search the term: wix vs weebly .

and you'll see a comparison of the two services. Both of these are free if you let them put a small ad or logo on your page. The sooner you can pay their modest fees and drop the ads the better because those ads say you can't/won't afford the most basic of expenses.

Some of these places offer web hosting too, or you can go with a separate hosting service, either of which you do have to pay for usually, but that can be pretty inexpensive if you do some hunting around.

The best advice for beginners in the VO world: keep your site simple. It's a glorified business card that plays audio/video. No long diatribes about how you give great service (we all do that if we want to stay in the biz). Your name, a short slogan, contact information, recent jobs (if any) and your demo(s) on the front page. You can always tweak it later, but that's a good start.

Bon chance!
