Just wanted to post some public kudos to Jack Fox who I believe narrated the opening voiceover on The Shape of Water. Wonderful job and the audio sounded absolutely amazing. Bravo that man!

The v/o starts about 60 seconds into this clip.

Actually I believe that’s the voice of Richard Jenkins, one of the lead actors in the movie. A fine read nonetheless.

+1 Bruce. Trivia points, Richard Jenkins was also Richard Burton's given name.

You know, a lot of scientists say that we all came originally from Monkeys, but I happen to know for a fact that Richard Burton and Tom Jones came from Wales.

As Colin Day says, the opening vo is by Louisville’s Jack Fox.

Sorry Colin and Jim, here's a clip of Jack Fox himself explaining how he did the background PA and television announcements in Shape of Water and apparently did not do Richard Jenkins' voiceover for the opening minutes of the movie linked earlier in this thread.

Sorry to pull a Snopes on you, but an Oscar winning actor should get his due.

Well thanks to the Courier-Journal for botching the original story. I have to admit after seeing Shape I thought long and hard if the opening vo was done by Richard Jenkins. When I got home I googled it and got the C-J story.

Appreciate you clarifying this, Bruce. Jenkins was great both on and off camera.

Maybe Jack Fox did some other bits of v/o in the movie?

Well it's a very nicely done job whatever and a very interesting film.

Follow the link Bruce posted above. It leads to a local Louisville TV interview Jack Fox did describing the public address announcements he did for the movie. In real life he does P.A. for Louisville Int’l Airport, and apparently LAX, which is where director Del Torro originally heard him.
