Might need to get an affordable laptop sufficient for audio and maybe some light video editing. Looking for quiet (SSD?) and cheap.
Specials? Recommendations?
Ones to avoid? |

Hard to say what's affordable to another person. But a Macbook Pro will certainly handle it. |

Good point.
I think I did mention "cheap", but that term is also relative. Personally I am looking for something to replace an Acer Aspire One (which was in the $300 range at the time I bought it about 8 years ago) and was actually good enough to serve me on the road for many years on a lot of short-medium length VO over the years.
In my case, I hope to find something to supplement work on a desktop PC; something portable mostly for travel or doing something quick when at coffee shops meetings. Capable enough to do recording and editing jobs, and maybe some lighter video files occasionally. Preferably quiet, maybe expandable RAM.
But I also thought we could open the question up to others.
So maybe my question should have broken it up into three categories:
sub-$500;
$500-$1000;
over $1000, where of course there are more options, such as the Macbook Pro. |

I bought a used Macbook Air 11". It's totally silent and powerful enough to run the recording software I use.
I use another computer to do editing/mastering.
Actually, I have a project going where I'm using a Raspberry Pi hooked up to a big monitor. I use the Pi to read F and Word documents since it too is silent. _________________ "The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve." - Buddha
