I'm asking Adobe Audition users because that's what I use, but I'd welcome comments from users of other DAWs, as well:
Adobe recommends - optimally - as the primary location for cache (or temp) files an internal solid state drive (SSD). Barring that, in what location/device is your primary cache? Please also state which DAW you use. If you would also care to state the reason for your decision, that would be helpful, too.
Thanks! _________________ Mike

By "primary cache" do you mean "primary temp"? (At least that's what it's called in preferences on AA 3.0, the version I've been using for countless years).
Primary temp storage is on my C Drive, - AA resides ahere well - which is an old school spinning Western Digital 1TB, and I've never noticed a performance hit. I do use a different internal drive for final file storage, and this is a 1TB WD Black. _________________ If attacked by a mob of clowns go for the juggler.

Thank you, David. Yes, I meant "primary temp," and thanks for clarifying that. I'll edit my post to fix that. _________________ Mike

I have an outboard drive (or two or three) which is where my AA CC2019 "Temp" files are deposited. AA itself is on the C: drive.
Just FYI about using an internal "folder" on your C: drive with AA - this slows the process down and it may (not always) cause glitches in the recorded audio or playback when editing multitrack.
As for an SSD - I have not found one necessary and another note: An internal or eternal SSD is not any faster than your basic pipeline within your computer - unless it is your primary drive and the PC has been optimized for an SSD.
