He was also a fantastic narrator if it was a topic you enjoyed hearing about. Here's his opening to the Civil War series from Ken Burns and PBS:

McCullough had such a great voice and did such a good job narrating those Ken Burns documentaries, it was easy to forget that narrating was just his "side hustle" and that he was, first and foremost, a writer.
