How’s your first quarter of 2023? Versus your history or your expectations?
Mine’s been unpleasantly thin. Luckily last fall was quite good and work’s picking up so I’m feeling safe and hopeful.
Not asking for specifics, just your impression. I definitely don’t want to go through another lockdown.

Nov through February was steadily better and better...then March was quiet, especially since a good sized-project is on hold due to translation issues. But we can't rely on big gigs to drop in. Got to keep hustling.
A colleague over in Brexitstan noted recently that things are quiet there but folks connected in TV and Radio say it's all about to get rolling. Here's to that.
May things ramp up for you Bruce, and all of us. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Plodding along nicely and seeing signs of both improvement and growth. There appears to be a return to the "flight to quality" behavior from clients big and small. New voices and those who have attended branding/marketing coaching are making branding statement like claims which promise things they are unable to deliver. If the massive growth in entrants to our line of work doesn't slow to a trickle soon I'd be genuinely surprised. For the rest of us who have managed to get through previous dips in the J curve select SURVIVAL mode on your keypad now. |

For the past three years I've been working on a huge project with ALMOST too much work to handle. That project ended in early January. So, now what might have seemed like a decent amount of work 3 years ago seems like a trickle. The other side of that is, I haven't been doing a lot of "funnel filling" --- so I'm scrambling on that. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Quarter 1 of 2023 was much thinner than I had hoped for. That downtime was an opportunity to work at making some new connections and exploring a few new opportunities which are going to come to fruition in the next month which will make Q2 almost good enough to make up for Q1.
Ebbs and flows. |

One significant source of newcomers to voiceoverism in recent years has been people who have found themselves "on the beach" after being relieved of their DJ duties at local radio stations all around the USA. There won't be as many of those, going forward, because there are are now so many fewer of those radio jobs left to be eliminated. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
