So as you indicated the problem appears that the files were 32 bit instead of the desired 24. Just letting anyone else know who happens to be following this thread.

I ran the test file through the limiter and set an out of -2.5db. I started limiting at -17.1 threshold with a release of 973.5 using the waves L2 limiter.

Is this what you had in mind Jeff?
all 3 files are here.... http://www.steviedproductions.com/vobb2

I need to listen to these through my good headphones, but the initial listen through speakers I can't tell the difference between yours and mine. Do you think there's a difference?

I think the difference is the overall level (louder) with some more headroom just in case you want to crank it up a little bit more.

what do you think?

It sounded great and was definitely louder. Looking at the file, the wave was bigger with less variance between the peaks and the lower volumes. In other words, it "looked" more compressed, but didn't sound flat like so much on the radio is (drives me nuts). The fact that I've got a nasty head cold comes through loud and clear!!

I've got the Waves limiter so I'll start with those settings and see if I can do what you did. Many thanks!
