Interesting. I've been looking around at what is available online. There seems to be a wide range of prices on these tubes! I see Groove tube Mullard re-issues at around $21-$25, yet see some long plate versions (vintage possibly) going for $250 - $400 a pair!

Research time.

The only tube in my system is the straw that comes with the Sonic Route 44 diet limeade (made with real limes and fake sugar).

Anybody remember the Bearinger "tube" preamp that did have a tube but it wasn't connected to anything and was illuminated by an LED behind it?

Nope... it caused something of a critical stir as you can imagine. They took it off the market. You can read about it here http://www.record-producer.com/learn.cfm?a=2838

On the Behringer Ultra-Voice in my rack there is a Tube Emulation module which is, of course, solid state.
