Hi colleagues!
I posted a topic about 6 months ago re. moving to LA and I got some lovely responses and tips. Its hard going here but at least I made it here!

I need some advice re. voiceovers.co.uk.

Is anyone currently with them?
Do you get enough work to pay off your fee?

I was one of the original members of the site in 2000, but I didn't have the expertise to record at home to make it viable. Now I do.

Thanks for any tips/advice about LA too!

Thanks
Thomas Sticking out Tongue

ADVICE TO POSTER

Anything UK or vaguely British is ignored (including me for the most part- As is only right and proper). Try something like "Yo Buds d'yall remember when Hoot Carhorn was Hobo Laughing at WPOOH 100.7 The Mime?" Or you could always talk about the weather BUT not in Manchester, has to be Vegas where it's DAMN hot or Colorado where it's DAMN cold!

Banks-- you wag.

I'm sorry for the slow response to our brother-in-arms' plea— it may simply be that the Yanks here have not had any experience with the site Tom is talking about.

The same rules apply to voiceovers.co.uk that apply to any pay to play site. You may get lucky, you may not. Unlike a lot of sites there is one advantage, members are not plagued with numerous pointless auditions. If a voice gets approached by a visitor to voiceovers.co.uk there is a high probability it will result in a job and it will be a job worth having.

Ahaaa! The secret formula has been revealed!!

The site was recommended by a friend of mine at Capital Radio in London.
Just wanted to know what you all thought.

I am with Voice123 and voices.com but you know how it is, unless you reply pretty quick you end up being #256. I like the direct approach rather than recording a specific audition.

Thanks Dierdre and Phil! I will join but its pretty pricey unless you earn pounds or are visiting from Russia!!

Cheers
Thomas

First posting here from another Brit voice.

Gotta say that I've had some great response from Voiceovers.co.uk leading to quite a lot of animation VO for educational CD-ROM's, and two TV ad's, so, in my case, it's been worth every penny.

I've tried many of the others and haven't ever re-subscribed as the response never covered the fee.
