Thanks in advance

Gp,

From reading posts on other studio gear bbs the Art Gold is a very low end pre-amp. Thats not to say it won't work for you. I actually tried one in a music store about 6 months ago using an re20 mic. i recorded just some dry, flat vocals and played them back on Event 20/20s... I wasn't too impressed nor was i disappointed. However, I ran the same set up using M-audio tampa mic pre and the results were clearer and a bit more lively.

Hope this info helps you out.

Steve

I've not been impressed with the ART Gold MPA. Not only did the unit I have for review break, but the quality of the sound was really poor (and the unit it was replaced with? Definitely unimpressive for the $).

The Trackmaster is definitely a step up, but I've got to be honest when I say that I am left unimpressed with any of that line of Focusrite product. I didn't enjoy the preamps on the Trackmaster, and the Voicemaster Pro... don't get me started. I had that unit added to the chain for less than 6 hours before calling someone to get it the hell out of my studio.

If you're going to spend that kind of $, I'd recommend a RNP/RNC combo.
