FYI: Just made it up here... looking forward to tearing up the place while here.
On the side, Fletcher and Jay are as giddy as schoolgirls about my visit tomorrow... for those who've met them, this is most disturbing _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

'Giddy' just isn't a word I'd have ever thought of would be applied to Fletcher. |

Me neither... but I have the e-mails to prove it.
I grabbed some swag from work for Jay and Fletch, so I know they'll be good...
As for what's on the menu tomorrow, I'm primarily checking mics, the lineup thus far is:
Gefell UM92.1S
Gefell UM900
Josephson C700A
Maybe an AEA R84 or something similar
Horch RMJ2
Telefunken M16
Telefunken AK47
Manley Reference
Manley Reference Gold (there is a difference between the two... the diaphragm is thinner with this model)
.
.
.
whatever else my blackened heart desires _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

so mentioning all the pres, compressors, and processing gear I'm checking out would be a bad idea, eh...?
EDIT: Chrissy, I'm afraid that I'll be busy as hell most of the weekend, BUT... I'm going to be at Anime Boston at the Funimation booth if you want to stop by and say hello. Alternatively, with everyone's schedules, I'm going to check about getting some folks together on Saturday night for dinner.
Hear that DB? Interested in dinner...? _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

See if they carry the Barker LS3000. I heard it's the new craze in VO mics. _________________ Ben

Count me in, Greg.
The game conference at Northeastern ends at 5pm, and there will be some gabbing after that, but I can meet you wherever you have in mind.
Will I need to buy a pass to come see you blokes at the Funimation booth?
Woo hoo! a day of parking in Boston! This will end up costing more than a hotel room. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Well, I must say that it was quite an experience. My three hour time frame... yeah, that just got chucked out the window and it turned into an all-day affair. I am a smidge disappointed that I did not get to try the Telefunken AK47 for myself, However, the wonderful folks at Mercenary had no less than 5 very high-end microphones for my VO enjoyment. I felt that the best way to test the mics was to find the most boring copy out there and see how it sounded. If the clinical reads that I did sounded well, then we had a winner.
FYI: Copy was taken out of DCID 6/3 (Directory of Central Intelligence Directive 6/3: Protection of Information Systems).
The mics they had set up for me were as follows:
Manley Gold Reference
Horch RMJ2
Soundelux E49
Microtech Gefell UM92.1s
Microtech Gefell UM75
Brauner VM-1 KHE
I'll post an update when I get the chance (and yes, I have a few pics as well... though I cannot guarantee quality). Suffice it to say that each and every mic was a wonderful mic in it's own right, and depending on what one is looking for, was very much worth it's cost...
and the BBQ we had for lunch (with some Jim Beam to wash it down with... after the mic decision had been made of course).
Sadly, DB wasn't able to join me... that said, for those who do want to hang, I'll make a date of 7PM at the Mariott Copley Place Lobby for a get together tomorrow _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser
