Here on campus at UNCC we have the worlds largest flowering plant. Only 20 institutions in North America have cultivated one of these beauties and this is a first in all of the Carolinas.

It is also known as the Corpse Flower because of the smell.
I just went over to see it a few minutes ago. The smell has reduced since it first opened but you can still get an idea of the odor if you stick your head into the bloom and inhale. (of course I HAD to do that myself)

Very interesting! That thing is huge!!
I have lots of corpse flowers around here, too, but mostly because I don't water them.
