Went to one of the barely-announced screenings last night at 11pm with a friend.

I was never into the Transformers on TV or the toys but man that movie was a lot of fun...cool effects, some really neat action sequences and some very funny moments, too.

Not a perfect film of course, but definitely a good time...it made me wish that *I* had a transforming robot alien friend. sniff.

Another VO I know voiced parts for some of the secondary bots. Ended up on the cutting room floor unfortunately.

I had a few of the toys as a kid. My younger brother loved the cartoon. Can't decide if I want to go see it or not. Might ruin the childhood memories. Wink

Seeing it tonight and trying to get past the idea that it's done by hackmeister Michael Bay. It'll be great to hear the original voices, though.

There were definitely things about it I didn't like (one actor's performance in particular) but I'm trying to be positive, because it is fun.

The Michael Bay factor is a consideration....

As big a comic book fanboy as I am, I was a little disappointed in the hue and cry that went up from Transformers fans about the design of the Autobots and Decepticons. "They don't look like the originals!"

Um....the originals were hand drawings. How much could they look like the originals? Not human enough faces or something? Ah well. Still going to see it....

I saw a clip last night on Letterman and thought it looked pretty sharp. It's getting an 8.3 rating on IMDB which is real good. Oh, and one of the lead actors, Shia LaBeouf, was on Letterman and was quite funny. He may go far.

He's been in a number of movies and he's been EXCELLENT in all of them. He was in "Holes" and the first thing we saw him in was one of the Project Greenlight movies, called "The Battle of Shaker Heights". That movie didn't get very well received, but we thought he was fantastic and actually thought it was a pretty cute, sweet movie.

I think he had a small part in "I Robot" too, although it could have been played by anybody, really.

But yeah, I think he's in the biz for the long haul...very talented young guy, and definitely funny.

Saw it last night and if you can check your brain at the door, the movie is amazing. By far the best (and least vomit-inducing) Michael Bay film of his career. Loads of fun.

I'm with Jeff on this one. Usually the "techie" in me picks apart the movies for bad physics or inaccuracies. My wife had to remind me during the movie today that "It's a comic book!" when I stated "hey! Those carriers have F-14 Tomcats on the deck! They have been retired!"

Forget about the very thin plot, just enjoy the show. I loved the soundtrack too. All bands I enjoy.

Overall, it was fun. I KNEW the voice of Optimus Prime had to be the same as from the animated series. I verified that when I got home.
