I’ve had a couple of weeks to mull this over and like it. I came home one late night and found a small package at my door. Upon opening it I found a DVD titled THE SECRET.

I'm amazed at this information as I've actually used it without knowing about the secret. The methods prescribed and what I did in certain moments of my life are parallel. It worked then and served as evidence for even the most doubtful of minds.

I have no tolerance for "self help" or "motivational/new age" nonsense but this is special. This confirms my “thoughts” and the art of accountability. I have created my own version of heaven and hell in this lifetime.. For me, at times, a pat on the back and at times shame shame on me.

A fantastic prankster myself I did not appreciate the no return address on the envelope nor it’s contents. I grabbed a drink and sat to watch the movie.

I’ll reserve comment at this time but welcome comments on the production.

From the official site:

In this astonishing program are ALL the resources you will ever need to understand and live The Secret. For the first time in history, the world's leading scientists, authors, and philosophers will reveal The Secret that utterly transformed the lives of every person who ever knew it... Plato, Newton, Carnegie, Beethoven, Shakespeare, Einstein.

From Wikipedia:

Synopsis:

The Secret, described as a self-help film,[2][3] uses a documentary format to present the "Law of Attraction." This law is the "secret" that, according to the tagline, "has traveled through centuries to reach you." The film features short dramatized experiences and interviews of a "dizzying dream team of personal transformation specialists, spiritual messengers, feng shui masters, and moneymaking experts".[4] As put forth in the film, the "Law of Attraction" principle posits that people's feelings and thoughts attract real events in the world into their lives; from the workings of the cosmos to interactions among individuals in their physical, emotional, and professional affairs. The film also suggests that there has been a strong tendency by those in positions of power to keep this central principle hidden from the public. The previews or "clues" to the film, show men who "uncovered the Secret...". Applicable to modern times, through the use of Vision Board the use of the secret is now offered to everyone.

Any takers?

Yup... I watched it a couple of weeks ago and have been using the ideas in it. I love it... if nothing else, you just feel better by trying to stay positive.

If you really want to get yer panties in a twist about this kind of philosophy watch What the Bleep Do We Know.

Joel Osteen gives a similar spin as The Secret, but with a religious twist.

DB has gotten kinda touchy about a topic like this before on the board, so it's best not to delve too deeply into a discussion here. I have enjoyed all three.

Well I went to both sites and no, didn't get the panties in a twist. Wait, I wear boxers.

I also went to the Joel Osteen site but see no mention or connection to the DVD I mentioned. However, I have read his "Your Best Life Now" book.

And why DB would get kinda "touchy" is none of my business. This is the "chat" outside of VO topic section yes?

Yep, it's too far already over the line. Joe R. brought up the subject on The Secret here a few months ago.

This subject is too likely to veer into religiosity, so don't be surprised if it disappears.

I'm also VERY TOUCHY about QUOTING ENTIRE POSTS THAT ARE RIGHT ABOVE YOURS.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to board etiquette.
READ THE RULES.

Good Grief! What cheek.

I believe I'll lock this thread and leave it up as an example of how NOT to behave on this board.

I'm also suspending your account. If you wish to rejoin the ranks, you'll have to convince me you can behave in a civilized manner.

The first post in this thread reads like a fairy tale written by a student in an advertising program.

For the record, I have owned the book The Secret for quite some time.
This board is not the place to discuss it.
