It's just a Pro Tools plug-in!

I love it.

I usually do all my editing in single tracks, and save things as they are, rather than play through and bounce in real time. Like a lot of PT effects plug ins, you can make Cosmonaut Voice alter a whole region— or rather a COPY of that region. The original is always there.

Bomb Factory makes that nifty plug in.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing DB. Any idea if that's a VST ProTools plugin? VST plugins are SUPPOSED to work in AA2.0.

Dave,

In order to use a VST plug-in in Pro Tools, you need to have a VST wrapper installed. Pro Tools doesn't run VSTs natively. (And I'm pretty sure you've already used at least one VST plug-in with AA 2.0, specifically Source Connect.)

You know I didn't ever get Source Connect. Right about the time I was ready to buy, my computer decided to up and die... so I spent my SC budget on a new studio computer instead... ah... ain't technology grand!

Audition 1.5 has a preset called "vocal cut" in the graphic equalizer. That works. Or if you want to make your own, create a dip centered around 2k. I usually drop it -6 to -9 db. Here's a picture.

Brian! YAY!

I had never used Vocal Cut before… especially in the way you described. I was just working on a spot with the client as the VO. His quiet voice kept getting lost in the music. I kept lowering the music until you almost couldn’t hear it.

Then I remembered this post. I tried it and voila! You can hear him! Thanks a zillion. Drinks are on me!

Dave and Brian-

I just finished up a 12-spot campaign on Operational Security. I plan to use vocal cut and Commando (sorry I didn't go back to see what it is really called and Commando is pretty funny!) on the spots. They've already been approved as is. I will post the original and the new versions for the group.
