....since, I think February that we actually got measurable rainfall in Vegas.
I actually saw 8 drops on my windshield. Even sadder that I counted them!
Heck, our humidity is up in the 20% range!

Hmmmmm. That's a far cry from our recent weather. This has been the weirdest year since we moved here 15 years ago.
Over the last 38 days it has rained 35 days in Houston. Multiple days of flooding as a result. I think we are now something near a foot of rain above normal for the year. Wish we could send it your way With the ground now totally saturated, should we have a tropical storm, or I shudder to think...a hurricane, we will be in very serious trouble!!! _________________ . Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon it was intermittently "spitting". The Wx says there could be more of this, especially Wednesday. _________________ Bobbin Beam

While I was living in Las Vegas.... IT SNOWED! It was very surreal to see the smaller palm trees in front of the studio covered in snow.
But don't let Courvo fool you... when it does rain in Las Vegas it's a freakin' deluge. There is a street behind the Strip that gets washed out every year (it seems). The two biggest surprises about Vegas was the rain and how many people smoked. |

When I was in Vegas in December, it snowed in the middle of the night. God, it was so darn cold there... I froze my butt off. I was training for my 1/2 marathon at the time, and had to run 12 miles the morning after we arrived.... brrrr...
But, we won moula, so hey, can't complain!!! _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Is that like "There's another VO Message board?"
heh.
Yeah-- do you recall at VOICE a hulking presence that was in my periphery now and then?
He's the guy who took some of us to the shooting range on Saturday, and took Jen Rizzo and me to dinner.

it's raining here in salt lake city. i now understand native american rain dances. finally!
but still ... hot
(insert appropriate "courvo is hot" mantra here)
especially in nevada :
07.25.07
By Associated Press
RENO, Nev. - Nevada is among the states with the most dramatic increase in average temperatures the last 30 years, according to a new study that examines the impact of global warming across the country.
The average temperature in Reno from June through August last year was 75.6 degrees, almost 7 degrees above the 30-year average, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group reported. The gap was the biggest measured nationally.
Las Vegas' average temperature last summer was 3.6 degrees above the 30-year average from 1971-2000, while Elko's was 4 degrees above normal and Ely's was 2.1 degrees hotter, the report said. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

Dave,
To answer your question... no, I did not do the marathon in Vegas. I missed it by a couple of weeks. I might have actually considered doing the 1/2 there. It would have fit in well with my training.
I was training for the Walt Disney World 1/2 Marathon. Being we were in Vegas the week before Christmas, that Saturday happened to be the day I had to do my longest training run. I got up at 5 am Vegas time (after having gotten to bet at around 11 pm Vegas time, just having arrived), and without knowing where I was going, I tried to run the strip. I ran down to some kinda seedy area (past the Wynn) and decided to turn around... I did about 6 miles, weaving up and down the strip (somehow I thought there was a continuous sidewalk... but obviously I was wrong)... I did the last 7 miles on the treadmill in the gym of the hotel. Man, did that hurt. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Caryn,
Cool! If you ran past the Wynn, then you likely came within a block of the TV station where I work.
People always seem to get distracted when they visit here, but just know that if you come again, and don't at least give me a phone call... I'll.... I'll... well, I'll have missed a great chance to send Deirdre a great pic of two VO-BB'ers!

Courvo,
I will definitely call you for a "photo o " next time we're in town! My trip was pre-VO-BB for me... I didn't join this wonderful forum until February of this year. And, I didn't go to VOICE (part of the reason was I had just been to Vegas).
Bunny slippers... hey, has the 2008 VOICE destination been determined? Hmmm... maybe I should start another thread.
