And I thought money would always be in style.

Okay... I'm a firm believer in, "If ya don't ask, ya don't get", but this is a bit ridiculous!!!

Guess you can't blame a fella for trying??!!?

Hey Jeff,

If you'd pass his name along to me, I wouldn't mind taking him up on the dinner offer... after he flys me to California, puts me up in a hotel for 2 nights (I'm sure it would take that long to really own the copy and do his message justice) and hands over the keys to his... PINTO!!!!

I guess you never know, if you don't ask.

Back in 1996, Rodney Dangerfield use to do it as part of a random drawing on his website. Nothing better than calling home to get your message and hearing him go to town on my name. When he said, "and what kind of name is Genus anyway, sounds like something my wife...." I knew I had an authentic recording. Unfortunately, I had an over-zealous religious nut as a roommate, he deleted it while I was out one day before I could record the message.

Honestly, I'd rather call up CompUSA or BestBuy and Snagglepuss voicing the menu, but alas, that'll never happen....

I saw this in a craigslist ad for voice talent recently:

Compensation:
:60 = $50.
:30 = $25.
:10 = $10 or a gift coupon of some kind. (Movie pass, food coupons, etc.)

My grandfather, a doctor, used to get a lot of stuff like potatoes in lieu of money from his patients. I guess there's nothing new under the sun.

So Kevin, how much did you make selling those bricks? LOL (just kidding)

This thread reminds me of a radio station manager I worked for when I was a teen. He would trade out a canned ham and give it to everyone for a Holiday bonus. <g> We'd be running T & T Packing company ads for weeks! But, hey! It was nice to get a gift!

Hey, Bill...it's still going on. The TV station where I work will be handing out hams this year for Christmas. I happened to mention to my boss that I didn't really need a ham as I already manage quite few in my news department.

Drew!

LOL! You made my day. You are correct. A news reporter and ham is redundant?

I worked in investment management in the 1980's boom. Prior to black Monday there was a rumour in most stockbroking firms that the Christmas bonus was either a turkey or a partnership and they'd run out of turkeys.
