I'm selling what used to be my favorite studio mic. It is one heck of a good microphone.
I advertised my Rode mic in my newsletter and sold it the day the newsletter went out. I decided to hire one of my own clients, AuctionPal, to sell the AT 4060 and nearly had a heart attack when they listed it for $9.99 but the auction just closed half an hour ago at a few dollars less than what I was hoping to get for it (and another one with a BuyItNow price of $749 didn't get a single bid all week), so I'm rather pleased with AuctionPal. I will probably sell the Soundelux the same way but thought I would offer it here first.
If you're interested drop me a line. |

Thanks for sharing that with us. I can hear the couch cushions hitting the floor as folks start gathering all their loose change to make an offer (including me).
What I really want to know is what are you using now that you like better than your previous mics? _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

Curiosity about the Lawson L47 FET was killing me, so I decided to "try" one.
Hah.

What works....works. I'm still thinking about how to demo a Lawson, but the closest one I know of is in Kara's Charlotte studio. A lot of inquiring minds would finally know for sure if she held a demo session.....at her normal studio rates of course.
I would love to hear how Bob S, Bob B, Brett, George (speaking & singing) and all our Charlotte Chapter Voice Talkers would sound on the same mic.
And I undersstand that it is possible for "Gene" Lawson to adjust each mic's frequency curve to match individual voices. Maybe there is a group rate deal.
I thought Mary sounded great on the U195. I hope she post a before and after sample.
Thanks,
Willie E. _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

Thanks Willie
I've posted a sample in Entre Nous under Cowboy Boots. My part was recorded on the Lawson. |

I think you'll be hard pressed to get the Lawsons to provide a discount on those mics. They are already priced lower than anything else you'll find at that quality and are, easily, some of the best mics made today. Many seem to believe they should be two to three times the cost.
You know, it's really interesting looking at that company. It's truly one man's dream come alive from sweat equity. When I bought my first L47MP I had the long talk Gene probably has with many people which generally ends with, "The only way for you to know is to put the mic to trial." At that time, he said he never had one returned ... well ... one, but it was for capsule mod. When I bought my second mic, Gene had recently purchased equipment to complete the entire fabrication at his shop.
If your booth doesn't have air conditioning rigged up, you may want to trial both versions to determine if the tube's heat output is favorable for your situation - tubes tend to warm up booths over time. _________________ Genus |

Willie, somewhere around here I have a mic shootout with the Lawson. Of course, now that my site has changed- it may not work anymore. hmmm...I'll have to figure something out. (I'll e-mail it to you)
You know, if you ever want to take a trip to Charlotte, I would love to have you visit! I'll give you full studio tour...and I cook too! (new favorite dish...almond crusted tilapia with stuffed peepers from the garden) _________________ Threadjackers local 420

...and so it came to pass that more and more people began to converge on Kara's place, leaving most to wonder if it was the Lawson mic, or perhaps the almond crusted tilapia.........

Kara,
Thank you. I'm sure we will. (And Brett, I'm sure it's the combination and not either one alone.) _________________ Be well,
