I did a product DVD narration for a local cement company back in May. Nice people, nothing tricky about the project, nice and easy. Finished it and got paid.
Three weeks ago I get called back in for the same project. They had some major script revisions, so we re-recorded the whole job. Finished it and got paid.
Yesterday I got contacted again for the same project to do some very minor script revisions. Got paid half again.
One job, three paychecks. Gotta love it.
I was wondering how many times some of you may have had to go in for the same project. Who's got the record? _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Scott,
This isn't quite the sort of thing you're asking, but one of my regular gigs started 3 years 1 month and 15 days before I was born. (Of course, I wasn't doing it back then, but I have been for a number of years now.) _________________ Be well,

I've had two jobs that went like that. Got called back because of some sort of revisions, and each time I got paid for a full session the second time around. These were both at the same studio, which has since gone out of business. Coincidence? |

Scott, that is indeed great work if you can get it!!
Bob, 'splain that please!!!!
Last week I got an email from a client that started like this:
Quote: | You're not going to believe this Mary, but they've basically given me a complete re-write. It wasn't at all like they thought it would be. "I didn't know you were going to follow the script so closely." was the comment I got. |
What in the world can you say to a client like that? I guess whatever you say, you say it very slowly and maybe kind of loud. |

I had a re-do of an ISDN session I had a few weeks ago. Got paid again as did the studio. Must have cost everyone a fortune. _________________ Jeff

That made me laugh out loud. I could actually picture someone doing that. Kids are wondering what was so funny. _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Are you getting nine checks from them?

Did a car spot for a local dealer that used five talents. At one point the five us were supposed to give a car model and price in rapid fire succession.
The client thought it was too fast. Brought back three of us to do just three of the examples.
Client didn't like the three guys shouting out the deals, so they brought me back to do it.
Client liked it, but two of the the cars had to be changed out, so they brought me back.
Then the client realized that the third car had to be changed as well. Brought me back again.
The client then decided he didn't like the way the prices were said (33-385 instead of 33 thousand three hundred 85 dollars), so I came back again.
Just when I thought I could make a career doing (or redoing) this spot, the dealer changed agencies. |

Mary,
The Hour of Decision, which I write, produce and provide some of the voiceovers for every week, began broadcasting November 5, 1950 with Cliff Barrows as the host. (He's still hosting the program, coming up on 57 years.) I wasn't born until December 20, 1953. _________________ Be well,

I do a lot of work for a creative services agency that has a large client who changes the script three or four times after the project is "complete."
Over the past couple of years, I've probably done 10 projects for this client, and on average, have been called back at least 3 times on each of them.
Rather than doing pick-ups, they prefer to re-record the entire script. Consequently, I get my full rate each time. It's been a nice income for me and for the studio where we record. _________________ Tim McLaughlin
