I have the same problem. Have to reduce the low band, record at a low level and fix in the mix. That sounded great! I'm trying to come up with something that I can build in our apartment basement and then take with us when we finally get a house up here. I suppose I can carpet the walls like you have and then disassemble them and hang them on the walls once we move.
oh, the possibilities... _________________ Greg Littlefield

Plasma TV for your ears? Wow! Thanks Bailey (and all) for the kind words. It is really great to finally see (hear) the fruits of my labor (and $$).
I have added (before recording the sample) a small bass trap in the left corner to help out with boominess. It made a noticeable difference. Since I didn't have a huge foam block, I just put some extra foam pieces into each other to make a small rectangular bass trap. Seems to have worked out fine. Go figure... _________________ Donovan

Nice job Donovan! I'm thinking about building one of those once I get to my next house. |

I say go for it! It really wasn't too difficult, just time consuming (especially since I did about 90% of the work sans help). And I think I got it all done for about $300 or so, taking into account I already had the mic arm and mic itself. I'm really happy with the results and feel much more confident in my ability to deliver a very high-quality professional sound.
