Your are so-o-o-o-o LUCKY Allen.

Just had a piece of Malware, VX2 bug, that hit my internet computer... can't get rid of the thing even though I have tried every remedy available... I will plug in another computer and take my internet computer to the doc for fixes.... and an inncoulation. This one get in and is undectable by most Anti-Virus Software. Then, it hijacks your browsers, and sends ads onto your computer every time you try to actually work on the interent - about every 5 minutes you get pop-up ads... even if the browsers are not "on"....

Hey Frank, I have encountered the occassional malware and attempted browser hijacker. I have my Firefox set to block ALL pop-ups and I don't let anything auto-install...ever. I am very particular about this box and other boxen I have around the house (I have 2 others...a Red Hat 9 server for a small high school alumni website and another "just whatever" computer). All are plugged into an SMC Barricade 4 port router hooked to a cable modem though my local ISP. I am the tech support for ALL my family members systems and many friends too. I just installed a Linux distribution on my Mom's system as a dual-boot with her WinXP and she loves it. No virii or other buggys to worry about..at least while on Linux. Just in case you're interested, I installed the KDE version of Ubuntu Linux called KUbuntu. Everything just works Smile Can't get any better than that for an everyday, do all internet computer.

I hope you get your problems ironed out with your system. I do admire your system of "sneaker-net" between the machines in your household.
