Gosh, and you thought YOUR cables sounded good.

James Randi Offers $1 Million If Audiophiles Can Prove $7250 Speaker Cables Are Better

The actual sounds produced at some of the greatest musical performances (live, or in the studio) in history are not overwhelmingly rich or pristine.

I'd rather listen to Sinatra at the Sands on 8-track than Sprockets Mac Techno and the Noodlers playing "Visions of Opus VIII" on the highest audiophile gear.

I firmly believe in pursuing very high audio and video standards; however, the technology is surpassing the capabilities of our senses.

No amplifier in the world is gonna sound good with extremely expensive cables if the amp itself is being modified as well. It's a matter of pure physics, since thicker/broader wires have less electrical resistance (Z), hence those expensive cables that are constructed to be 'superconductors'.

Now the flaw...

The printed circuit boards inside electronic equipment are no more than 35 micron (one 35 millionth of a meter) thick. In order to really help your overall sound quality, you have to bypass every piece of PCB from the power transformers (or tubes) until you reach the speakers... that means that you ruin your warranty from the amp and you need to KNOW what you're doing obviously. Also, keeping the length of the speaker cables to an absolute minimum is also a major factor. Buying expensive cable without altering the amp's output circuit has no effect whatsoever.

Don't let the cable manufacturers tell you otherwise, it is scientifically proven. I have been involved in a number of tests with 'Monster' cable. The best results we had were achieved AFTER completely overhauling the amps... only THEN will cable quality make a significant difference.

Yeah, but even then I can't imagine any cable being worth over $300 per foot.

I like massive, heavy, thick, big, bad speaker cables.

In fact, I use welding cables to get the signal from my mp3 player to my ear buds - oh man - it really works.....really......

Hey Bob - you should see what I'm using for my recording chain. I just installed a new garage door opener and I took a look at the chain from the old one as I was taking it down and I thought to myself.....

Pear and co withdrew from the Randi challenge.

While we support Mr. Fremer's efforts, and believe firmly in the performance of our products, we prefer that he simply use his own reference cables in his proposed test.
