I use v123 and voices.com and I get enough private leads and direct contacts to make it well worthwhile. Every now and then I pass the "audition" and land a gig, but I don't go out of my way to audition unless I'm really keen on the project. I probably check my inbox randomly once or twice a week.

I just finished I job I landed via the audition/invitation process. I was not their first choice. They were looking for someone to capture the general essence of their old spokesperson. The first choice turned out to be too dissimilar upon further review, and the second choice tried but gave up saying "I don't do impressions". Then they went back to the drawing board and the clients had to pick a voice that everybody could agree upon. Lucky me.
