While I am waiting for my processor to arrive I decided to fire up my new mic with the Presonus Firebox. I am using Adobe to record but the problem is I am only getting audio in the left channel while recording...even recording in stereo. To the best of my knowledge I have everything set up right in Adobe. Is it normal to only be getting one track going from the Neumann to the Presonus directly into the firewire input on the computer?

Any help would be welcomed. Thanks!

Glenn

Yes it perfectly normal to get only one side of a stereo track. You didn't say but I'm betting your mic is mono therefore you get one channel. Look into you preset for audio input. There you may find an option for stereo or mono recording. Most likley picking the mono will cause the wave file to then show up as mono.

I am thinking you're right. It's the Neumann TLM-103 and I know it is not a stereo mic so that explains it. I am just use to seeing two channels even though I know it is mono. Just wanted to check with those who may have more knowledge about it. Thanks so much for the help.

Glenn,

Just set Audition to record in "Mono" mode when you set up a new file or session. Then it will look a little more normal.

And if I'm not mistaken, be a smaller file!

Glenn,
The company that wants to build my new computer wants to sell me a new Firebox. Other than you losing a channel, what's been your exprerience with that unit?
Thanks,
Willie

I've used my Firebox for about three years with Audition and Cubase, on XP and it's worked great. Its built in preamps aren't very good, but if you go line in there's no problems.

For the money, the Firebox is excellent.

I've only had mine for a few days and have used it a couple times. Works fine so far. I am waiting on my processor to arrive to complete my audio chain. Once that happens we'll see how it all sounds and works together. But I hear lots of great comments about the Presonus. It was between that and the Edirol and I went with Presonus. Hope I made the right choice:-)
