i didn't even know this existed, but while looking through BSW's site (after receiving their sale email), i came upon
THIS.

This is part of their sale/b-stock price, a new one is here.

Have never used one of these so can't say yay or nay - just thought I'd share. I love my Telos though, but compared to these it's twice as expensive.

PEACE.

I've used one of those on remotes and it's just an interface so you can use a mic instead of the phone itself. In my opinion, it doesn't do much for the quality but makes the station look a little more professional by not passing a cell phone around when doing interviews.

Yeah, we used to send our play by play guys to high school football games with this setup in case the pressbox didn't have a phone line they could use. Seems like it was a slightly different, or older perhaps, model. They could plug their little "look at me I'm a real sports announcer!" headphone/mic set into it and away they went. Sounded like crap, but since it was on a tiny AM nobody cared.

LOL! On the side, I've been using a bluetooth telecom device for studio communications with clients for the past few weeks. Damn thing has totally replaced my old phone, since it's patchable to the recording chain, does VoIP (voice over IHobo Happy, and POTS (plain old telephone system), in addition to bluetooth (synched with my mobile phone with no issues).

if it just made toast, I'd be in heaven, lol.

Yep, my station uses one EXACTLY like that one. The high school football play-by-play guys use it for out of town games. They would plug their Sennheiser headsets into it and do their thing. Sounds okay, I guess....like a cell phone would sound on the air. They always forgot to turn the darn thing off and I would have to replace the batteries every week. Frown

Never would've thought about using one for a phone patch in the studio...though I'm sure it would probably work just fine.

There is also this little ditty (and a few others) for cell phone use for remote/location telephone interfaces:

http://www.jkaudio.com/compack.htm

or, for all the whistles, tricks and toys, in an all-in-one phone patch device:

http://www.jkaudio.com/remotemix-sport.htm

There are lots of devices which will do the trick and now with wireless GSM and VOIP interconnected system some of the new toys actually sound -- ha hmmm - good.

Toodles

Check out the JKAudio Daptor 2. It is as simple as it gets, but won't work with every phone, as it needs to have a standard mini earpiece jack. Cool thing about cell phones as they have built in separation between send and receive, so they work pretty well for this purpose. Notice how when you speak into a cell phone, you don't (shouldn't) hear your voice blasting back at you in the ear phone, whereas on a land-line phone, you do.
