Hi Everyone

I have recorded and mixed a piece of work and it looks and sounds great in a wav form, but when I convert it to an mp3 it suddenly clips. I am using adobe audition and converting it to a 48Kbps, 44100 (which the client needs. )
This has happened before but never to this extent. What can I do about it?

Thanks Kathy

I'm not sure if there's a specific reason for that...can you post both files online someplace so that somebody might take a look & listen?

What was your original capture - what settings. And yes, posting the samples somewhere would be helpful.

Okay! Here's what happened. This is a long piece of work so I tried to just cut out a segment to upload for you to listen to...and I discovered that when I'm in MT view and I create a mix down of voice and music, then convert to am mp3, I need to have just the mixdown on the tracks to get a good copy. In other words I have to delete the vocal and the music tracks, so that only the mixdown is visible. I think that's why I was getting clipping in the final mp3.

I can't believe its taken me this long to figure that out! Am I correct or am I loosing my mind?

Well -- I's been a long day for me. Thanks for listening to my ranting.

Hi Kathy,
Just go to "file" and "save mixdown as"...
Save the file where you want it, in whatever format you want.
This is just a guess, but I think what you might be doing is saving the mixdown to another track, then listening to the mixdown track in addition to the original "seperate" tracks and that's probably why you're getting the clipping.
Good Luck,
John
