I've heard a lot of chatter lately about the best way to backup data off site, and this service seems to be the closest to the perfect solution available right now. Checkout http://mozy.com and test it out with their free version. If you like it they only charge $5/ month for UNLIMITED backups (how do they do it?). They are similar to another service called Carbonite, but Mozy supports PC and Mac at this time, unlike Carbonite.
The only major disadvantage of systems like this for backup is the time it takes for the data to upload from your computer is throttled heavily by your ISP (usually under 1 Mbit/s, and often closer to 300 kbit/s), so your initial backup will take hours or days. But after that, only new and changed files need to be sent, and it's all in the background. Check it out!
