Hey I got a new Alesis multimix mixer for my day job and I need a bit o' help with Cubase.

I've got 2 mics each plugged into inputs 1 and 2. When I record, I get both mics recording into both tracks, How do I separate them so mic 1 goes into track 1 and mic 2 goes into track 2?

1.) It should be a question of assigning VST inputs through your Multimix. Look for your Device Settings and VST Inputs.

2.) Otherwise, access the Cubase mixer F3(?) and you'll see a line in a bar on top of each fader. Pull that left or right to assign the pan settings if that helps out on the mix side of things.

I have Cubase SE3 and LE, and once you figure out what good free or inexpensive VST plugins actually are out there the thing is a steal. I feel like I can do just as much if not more than I could with Audition and do it more quickly and intuitively. The only problem is that Cubase manuals and help isn't so hot, so you have to do a lot of investigative work on your own.

Good luck!

Jeff,

I've found this to be helpful with regards to multi-channel recording with Cubase 4.

Thanks guys. It ended up being a moot point since we're recording in the same room right next to each other. No point isolating mics if I can't isloate the sound as well.
