Hey there, we were in Natick yesterday, and ate RIGHT NEXT to the table where our illustrious crew had dinner with the famous Bob Bergen a few weeks ago! I could still feel the good vibes... Wink

Then, today, we were up in Kittery, and I thought for half a second of trying to track down our twisted "Mom" here but didn't want to be taken for a stalker...

plus, I had my mother-in-law along... she wouldn't have unnastood...

Hearts to CC for thinking of me!!!

It's Younger Bear's birthday today, though, so we weren't home much.

We went to see The Forbidden Kingdom tonight. Wild! Great visuals. Peculiar Boston placement.

So true, Bob...after leaving the "farm"...being back here "at home" is such a wonderful, fun respite.

Thanks for your well written defense of....er....uh....common sense.

You're still cute as hell, Brian.

apropos of hand grenades: did anyone really read that whole thread? I lost the will to live, as Philip would say, part way into Schicksa's 2nd diatribe.

Yeah, it was a good reminder that some sandboxes are more fun to play in than others.

I like this sandbox- thanks for building it Deirdre!

One thing I got out of that little pissing match was that this business is like any other, where some people are going to be threatened by others' trying to improve themselves for fear of increased competition... insecurity can be an ugly thing. I don't know whether that's the case with those posters, and I really don't care, but it was a good reminder that not everyone you deal with in this business is going to be as supportive as the folks around here. One more reason to be thankful for this community! Smile

I sensed a great deal of fear in some of those posts... such as, the fear that somebody might succeed by going to the event this summer, or that somebody else might be better than the OP, or that the "reviewer" who produced such an unprofessional review of the meeting would be laughed (which he sort of was). There was just lots of fear.

It's common enough in any endeavor where there are always some insecure individuals who feel it necessary to tear down positive things that others do. The more of that thread I read, the more depressing it got; as a producer I would not be likely to hire the people who whined so much about so little in that discussion. No matter how good they are.

I think Bob and some others nailed a great many good points and raised the positive bar... but somehow it just kept getting dragged down to the fear and loathing subsection of human behavior.
