Wow!! that is incredible! It looks like fireworks sometimes.
It also looks as though the airspace over the eastern US should be opaque with airplanes. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

OK CC - 'splain how come the background is always dark. Is it a special camera that is just picking up the light?
The planes that go "poof" and suddenly disappear in the middle of the Pacific (Hawaii) are freaky! _________________ Playing for a living...

The way I read the description it's not actually a picture of the planes but a computerized representation of each flight's path. Still cool though. I enjoyed seeing all the flights launched from Europe before we're really awake over here.

CC,
Very cool. And as it happens, I was on a trans-Pacific flight that day in 2005, coming home from Manila. _________________ Be well,

I kept trying to remember what that reminded me of...and it just hit me:
The final scene in "War Games" with Matthew Broderick, where "Joshua" is running all the "Global Thermonuclear War" scenarios!
Sorry...it was driving me crazy!!!!
(Yep..back to my normal, oh-so-exciting life!)
It IS really cool!

Wow, thats pretty but horrible, no wonder your skies were suddenly so clear after all the planes were grounded following 9/11. _________________ www.davidmonteath.com

David,
I remember that day only too well... I had the computer on and found a web site where tracking for flights was still being displayed... it was amazing to watch the "board" clear...
That night was the eeriest because there were none of the usual flights, except for fighter jets occasionally patrolling...
well... and we were still in front of CNN on the TV and had been there since just after 9 that morning...

It was astonishing to see how clear the air got with all the planes grounded. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Well, there was that and the fact that it was not humid for a few days... _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

That is pretty cool.
I showed this to my wife this evening, she said, "Wow! Looks like sperm!"
Have I ever mentioned my wife is a little twisted as well? _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.
