..."pundint" instead of "pundit", I'm going to scream.

That is all.

would you prefer realator?

/maybe it's just a Philly thing, but they can't say "realtor" to save their lives. Don't get me started on pronunciation of their own football team

//"Eagles" not "Iigles"

Greg,

At the other end of the state the football team is known to the locals as the "Stillers." Good grief.

I did a MOH just yesterday with notes from the end client to pronounce realtor "real-a-tor".....Ack! Couldn't do it. I read the MOH properly, then did alt. lines with realtor mispronounced at the end. Don't know where the real-a-tor was in though....maybe Philly!

I've read scripts for the National Association of Realtors specifically stating to pronounce it real-ah-tor.

That's interesting. I've heard spots on the air for the National Association of Realtors and it is pronounced correctly. Granted, the VO definitely says the last syllable as "tor" as opposed to the more casual "ter", but it's clearly "re-al-tor" vs. "reel-a-tor".

And yes, I continue to hear about jew-ler-y clearance sales.

Our current President is sometimes knocked for being a rube for his mispronunciation of "nuclear", but I remember Jimmy Carter, thought to be quite bright by many, making the same error during his Presidency. And the curious thing about that...Carter helped develop the Navy's nuclear submarine program while he was in the service. He shoulda know better!

And yes, pun-dint drives me ga-ga too. And the SOB's are probably going to make it stick like "at this point and time". It's "at this point in time", or "at this time", or "at this point". Not "at this time and time", or "this point and point".

Seeee? Ya got me all riled up.

Ahhhhh, what's the point?

Then there's "case AND point" as opposed to the correct "case IN point" Lips Are Sealed

I'm going back and forth with a client (of course, the client is always right- they are still trying to decide in house)...is it 'grosh-ry store' or 'gross-ry store'?

I originally said grosh-ree. But, I was born on a cotton farm in west TX...so who knows?
