Hello,

I'm trying to sign up with some new (to me, at least) web-based talent sites, and many of the better ones require access to an ISDN studio. I really do not want to invest in ISDN at this point. So what I need to to find a Chicago-area studio that I can record in at a reasonable rate.

Specifically, one agency requires: "… an ISDN studio in your area @$300 hr or less, 1 hr minimum and will charge half hour rates after that and for pickups with no extra fees on top of their hourly rates."

Can anyone recommend a Chicago-area studio that meets this requirement? Thanks in advance!

Hey Tom.
When you ask about rates tell the studio you are a talent and they usually (not always) have a special rate for an unattended session.
That is where the studio sets the levels for the session and producer calls in the phone lines and records and directs on their end. Typically it's around $100/hr. The studio engineer doesn't monitor the session, thus.. unattended.

Believe it or not I've talked about you before. Well, not me but Vic Harris. I could swear he was the voice of the Chicago (Ford? Chevy? can't remember now) spots but he said he thought it was you.

Anyway....There are quite a few actually.

There's:

Audio Recording Unimited @ $150 not originating call. Contact Lynn or Betty. Let them know you're a voice talent paying for it to get that rate

Chicago Recording Co @ $150 not originating call.

BAM Studios @ $50 not originating call.-- Yes that's fifty NOT one-fifty like the other two. Contact Brian.

There's also Audio Producers Group (APG) but they're kinda pricey @ $350 and last I checked no special rates for talent. Contact Mindy.

You can go the the Chicago Creative Directory and look under audio studios-- these are but a few. You'll also want to find out what codecs these studios use.
