Well, it does beg the question: would you rather look young or sound young?

The proper answer in that business situation:

"How old do you want me to be?"

It's still about the marketing, folks. Wink

That's true, but I know my limits. There's no way anyone would buy me as a mom...at all....well, maybe if it was an unplanned pregnancy.

one of my best studio clients asked me for a "real people" style audition of an 80 or 90 year old man this week. and that wonderful person was kind enough to preface her request with the phrase, "i know you are MUCH younger...".

maybe she remembers the demo cut where i played a baby bird.

anyway, as irene ryan (granny clampett) once told tv guide, "i was BORN old.", so it won't bother me (unless i don't get the gig!).

What's a client?
Is that something that comes with a job?

They never ask me...i think it's because they can hear my nurse in the background.

UPDATE: i won the audition for the "80 or 90 year old real person". radio spots for the virginia state fair. we record monday, and i will learn which of my audition voices they settled on: old and wistful, old and full-of-pepper, or old and...uh, older."

meanwhile, my cats don't care HOW old i am, as long as i can still open the can and bend down to put the food in their bowl.

I'm not sure this is a good thing or a bad thing...I've had a Senior Demo for a couple of years now. I've played so many of them over the last few years I was able to shebang one together, sonny. It's not widely posted but I'm glad I'm covered for the next 40 years in case I forget how to edit, or forget how to edit.
