Hi, good people...
Can any New Jerseyans recommend a reliable recording studio in our state in which to cut a demo? I have yet to invest in home equipment, but want to get a demo cut ASAP so I can get the ball rolling.
Appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!
Love...
Mike

Hi, Liz...
I'm in Woodbridge, which is in Central Jersey. I'm an easy drive from Newark, New Brunswick, and Jersey City.
Thanks!!

Hey Mike,
Do you have a good producer/coach? That would be first.
Studios in NJ are a dime a dozen... but a good voiceover studio available to the public? Haven't found one that doesn't have a grand piano in it or is "attached" to a broadcast network.
Let me know what rates you get if you DO find one - I have a friend in NY with a great studio and can get you a "referal" rate (NO - i get nothing in return).
PEACE.

I believe the commonly accepted way of posing that question is, "What exit?" |

Anthony is right, Mike. You need a good coach before you get in the studio.
My old voice coach is no longer around but you'd probably have a better chance of finding a quality coach in NYC, anyway. The tough part is reconciling the quality with the price...
If you're looking for a package deal, check out Voiceovers Unlimited in Manhattan. For one price you get classes, a produced demo, and meetings with agents. It is expensive and takes time, but it may be worth it for you.
I have clients in Princeton and Hamilton so I can ask around for good local coaches, if you'd like.
Once you get the coach, I recommend Panetta Studios in Elmwood Park. Angelo's studio is where I cut my first demo. Liz can also attest to Angelo's awesomeness! _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

I can ABSOLUTELY attest to Angelo's awesomeness!
I was actually going to email you, Tom, and ask if Angelo produces demos.
Well...there ya go!
But yeah, Mike, I would DEFINITELY work with a coach first.
I'm actually working with a coach in NYC right now who's AWESOME, in preparation for redoing by commecial demo this fall/winter.
Her name is Lainie Cooke
www.lainiecooke.com
Tel: 212-874-5865
She actually told me that she has some VO Coaching slots open in the fall.
If you do decide to call her, tell her I told you about her.
I don't get anything in return, but I'm happy to reccomend her. She really is GREAT.
