Much better than my news anchor name, Manchester Hillsborough.

Hey, that's my name too! I'll have to pick another. The first one actually sounds like it could be someone's name: Gill Franklin. (That's a hard G.)
New Brunswick Middlesex? (not so much. N.B. Middlesex, maybe)
Worcester Worcester. (naw)
Durham Strafford (got a ring to it)
Newmarket Rockingham (who would name someone Newmarket?)
Hampton B. Rockingham (the B stands for Beach)
New Britain Hartford (just like New Brunswick. Try N.B. Hartford)
Newington Hartford (maybe)
West Hartford Hartford (that's just stupid. Gotta go with W.H. Hartford)

I'm done. To get another name I'd have to sell my house and move.

I was trying not to bring up the porn one but since we went there: Lady West. However, I also learned that you can do it with your middle name and the street you grew up on so I get Delsina West.

Both beat out my weather reporter name: Worcester Worcester but soon-to-be Biddeford York.

Guess which job I'd be most like to keep? Or get for that matter. Wait, maybe you shouldn't answer that!

This reminds me of "your porn star name" game.

You take your first pet's name and the name of the street you grew up on.

Mine would be Flower Barney.

Gasp

Over the years I've shared the anchor desk with many a co-anchor, but can't, at the moment, come up with one who had an odd name.

Buuut...I do recall a time waaaay back when I was co-anchoring the noon broadcast in an Ohio city with a most mouthy and obnoxious diva who believed she was the world's oyster.

Anyhoo, Oprah was in town with her entourage...including her "hair designer", whose name escapes me at the moment.

Our young producer thought it would be great fun to have this guy on for an interview. I begged out of doing the interview saying I knew more about bridge design than hair design. So, the diva jumped in and begged for the opportunity. Heck, I knew she would.

So, up comes the interview segment and the diva's there on the interview set, live, having a wonderful chat with the hair cutter. All seems sweet, huggy, kissy....blah, blah, blah. Then the diva made the fatal error of asking, "So, what do you think of my hair style?" There was a slight pause. Then, the guy leaned over to her, and in the most matter of fact tone replied, "Girl, if I were you I'd shave it off and start over."

Well the crew roared. Unfortunately for me, I lost it, too. Again there was this most uncomfortable pause, and suddenly the diva threw it back to me. There I was, tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks, and I suddenly blurted, "My razor's in my desk drawer if you need it. We'll be right back."

What gets me is that I was the one hauled into the GM's office with the news director in tow and read the the riot act.

Drew, I'm dying. Just dying. Tears and moaning and writhing on the floor. Thank you.

Drew, what a great story. Hilarious!
I bet getting the riot act read to you was worth it?
