wow. away from electronic communication for the long weekend ... and this hit me like a ton of bricks this morning. i met the man only once - but we had a great laugh over pam's photographic skills (or lack thereof) ... this was an excellent opportunity for a person of a certain status to become miffed - or annoyed - don laugh and said that he'd stay all night if he needed to. a truly nice guy ... and of course, a legend.

We've lost a legend, and Nita and the girls have lost their husband and father. It is a sad day indeed. I pray for God's comfort for his family. RIP Mr. LaFontaine. You will not be forgotten.

Such sad news but we are all wiser from his teachings, especially his open letter to everyone. I continue to hold his family in my thoughts and prayers and hope that the sharing of memories brings healing to all of you who were touched by Don.

I never knew Don, but I have followed his work and I have been told about the sort of person he was.
RIP Don.
Our art has lost one of it's true greats.
I extend all my sympathy to his family.

Joining with the community in shock and sadness. It really is about our relationships. Hold each other very close, always.

My condolences and prayers for Don's family and friends.

Way too soon in my opinion.

Having grown up hearing his voice, I took for granted that he would be around for a much longer time, and was pulling for him big time to bounce back from his illness.

There's a gaping hole in the airwaves today.

He was the patriarch of voice over, and I think one of the reasons we have the vo community we have today, with places like the vo-bb. As I'm sure we all have, I've heard great stories of Don letting people ride in his limo for the day (when he had to drive to studios) to let them see what the day in the life of a vo was like. He wanted to help those who were interested in this craft.

My heart truly does ache for his family and all of his good friends.

Wow. In a world...sorry...of anonymity, Don was probably the one name that Joe Average knew with regard to our industry. And even the few who may not have known his name certainly knew his work. To say he will be missed is a gross understatement.

Thoughts and prayers to his family for continued strength.

I loved when he said that he was a "30 year overnight success". His mic shut off way too soon. I shed a few tears this morning hearing the news.
My sympathies to his wife and children.

We never met. Yet I consider him a friend and wept at the news this morning.

.. words are not enough.
