Hi All,

I'm looking to revamp my website. I've got at least one idea on the branding situation but I want some opinions.

On voices.com I call myself a vocal explorer on my bio page. I haven't found anyone who uses that brand in the voice industry. So my website might say something like:
Mary Morgan
The Vocal Explorer or The Voice Explorer

Which sounds better? Or do they both stink?

I have lots of animation credits on my resume and it's mostly anime. I have a theme I use on my CD covers that's outer space related. For those who have heard my animation demo the very first line spoken is "Attention earthlings, we come in peace".

I'm working with my designer to create a new appearance for my website but before I do anything drastic I want to know what people think of the branding title I have for myself so far.

You can visit my voices.com page to see how I use it in my bio:

Feedback please??

Mary Morgan

Can't say I'm a fan of either one, because I don't know what they mean. While I'm sure you can explain it to me in such a way that I would understand, should you really have to do that?

And do you really need a tagline? Some of them are good: Bob Souer is a storyteller. Caryn is a hip chick Voice. But those are clear and appropriate. So unless you have something that really works, a tagline is really just fluff. While you may think it's cool to have a tagline, put yourself in potential clients' shoes. Does it clarify your brand or muddle it?

Mary... After reading your bio on Voices;
Quote:
... allowing her to create multiple character voices with all kinds of emotions. She's the heroine, the villainess, the cute little girl, the tough little boy, the clueless teenager, the shy young woman... and many others.

This says nothing to me about The Vocal Explorer or The Voice Explorer.
I would like to suggest "The Many Voices of Mary Morgan"
This compliments you, and invites the client to listen to the various voices you have to offer.

Thanks Guys,

I would so be humiliating myself without this board. Bailey, I REALLY like your suggestion. I'll see what I can do with it.

Uhh.... Do you guys have any thoughts about the appearance idea I have in mind? The outer space theme? Of course I'll have something put together to show here first before final decisions are made but I wanted to know if the idea itself strikes anyone as believable.

Take care!
Mary

The only danger with an entire outer space theme is the whole typecasting danger. My logo is, of course, a little space guy, but the rest of my site doesn't really have anything to do with outer space or any particular theme really.

And, you know, when I say "typecasting" that also includes potentially turning off somebody who hates sci-fi or space stuff. Of which there are plenty, sadly.

Hi Lou,

Thanks for the advice. After days of thinking about it I've decided not to change too much as it is. I do plan to have a resume link and Professional links page which may have some slight decorations but other than that I think the homepage should stay the same.

I appreciate the input!

Mary

Mary,

One other thing is that you may want to consider changing the text on your site (not the logo & demo buttons, but the text below that) to white or another color that pops better over the background than the current blues / dark colors.

Smile

Lou
