So, um, and I'm being serious here....

Bruce, as a mod, why don't you guys cull all the thousands of P2P threads and topics that have appeared on this site, put them all together into their own, isolated forum somewhere, and in the future whenever someone starts another P2P thread - and it WILL happen, a LOT - simply lock that thread by providing a link to the previously accumulated topics and threads?

Then we can all move on with our lives.

Scott, I think the problem with that is what someone else mentioned earlier in this thread: things change.

I'm 100% certain that at some point in the future -- probably the not-too-distant future -- there will be some new "innovation" in the P2P world, and it will be reasonable for people to discuss that new way of doing things. Maybe it will make P2Ps better; maybe it will make them worse (though it's hard to imagine what THAT kind of change would look like); maybe they'll just be different. Regardless, it will be good for all of us to discuss it.

We try not to cut off debate until it seems necessary, such as it going in circles several times. We let these go awhile because we think it's good for us to let off a bit of steam here and there. But you're right, links to previous discussions could shorten these exchanges.

There is no right answer here for everybody, but there are plenty of well considered opinions worthy of review for inquiring minds.
