Jeez, that's too much like work! I hope they're making a ton (and I'm sure they are) because they're sure working for it. Thanks for posting that. It does make you realize how fortunate we are, to whatever degree we're able to enjoy what we do. |

My one question: Where is our favorite Dragonball Z voice talent? _________________ Be well,

Not sure if you mean me...but I think I was in NC on ISDN for that one
If you are into DBZ games they are soon to release Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for Wii and PS2. It was a massive undertaking for Chris Sabat- over 150 characters I believe. I actually flew into Dallas for that one many months back. I voice 5 of the characters on that game (I was thrilled to see the return of Upa- who I hadn't seen in a lot of years!).
I'd say this video captures how it's done perfectly (except we tell alot more jokes between takes!)
I hadn't seen this- thanks for sharing! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Willie,
Yes, I meant Kara. And, Kara, if you were on ISDN that would explain why you aren't on camera in the studio. And I hope they keep making these games forever, too. Good for you! _________________ Be well,

Simply Awesome. I watch a ton of Anime with my daughter and have met about 40++ Anime Voice actors in the last few years. This behind the scenes Of DB Z is just great. I just love hearing and seeing the process of making games and Anime.
Kara -- Congrats on voicing the game. It'll be great to hear you when the game is out. I'll be sure to add that one to our Wii library.
Chris Sabat is simply a great person. I've met him twice and he always takes the time to talk with fans. He's a funny dude as well.
Thanks for the post.

Adam was telling me a great story recently that is somewhat related. Apparently he brought his daughter in while they were doing some recording and the little munchkin didn't quite understand the process at first, so she kept looking at the video screens while one of the VAs (Colleen Clinkenbeard) was in the booth. His daughter would look at the screen, then at Colleen, then at the screen again, and then again back at Colleen.
This went on for about 5 minutes until she put the process together in her head.
...anyway I thought it was cute. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

If you watched the piece in it's entirety, you must have heard that at least 2 of the performers have at one time or another, PASSED OUT IN THE BOOTH! Talk about commitment to the character! _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

DragonBall Z has 2 famous yells...the Kamehamehaa...and the one when we go Super Saiyan 3 and 4. If you haven't blacked out for at least a few seconds...you haven't done them right.
I've hyperventilated, seen large black spots, the works! There is a scene from the world tournament in which Videl has her head crushed by Spopovitch. I voiced that entire scene to picture and at the end, as videl began to cry, so did I!
Those boys and girls on the video have pulled off some crazy stuff! I'm a very lucky girl to have been able to witness some of it!
OK- thanks for indulging my trip down memory lane. I really miss the old days of anime sometimes. _________________ Threadjackers local 420

It's so interesting to hear you discuss anime Kara. I don't really have any kind of experience with it, but it sure sounds like it could be fun. Playtime! This is my first post in over a week. I've been slammed with other stuff- not anime, but e-learning. Crazy. It took 5 days to complete. My brain feels kinds gooshie! _________________ Bobbin Beam

I'm adding that tip to my VO Notebook. Do it right . . . black out . . . few seconds . . . .RIGHT! Got it Kara, thanks! _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

I just attended Sac Anime where Vic Mignogna (Broly - DBZ) and Laura Baily (Trunks - DBZ) were in attendance. Also in attendance were Travis Willingham (Colonel Roy - Full Metal Alchemist) and Darrel Guilbeau (Gainer Sanga - Overman King Gainer). I spoke briefly with all of them but my daughter got to hang out with Laura, Travis and Vic. All of the VO Artists are great people. It's always great to rub elbows with some awesome VO folks that do what I wish I was doing.
If you like the Dragon Ball Z video, seeing and hearing them live is extra special. I can't wait for the next Con.
I still like to meet Kara though... |
