So does the following completely suck as a logo? I'm shooting for hip, modern, contemporary, gen-x, cool, etc. And I'm not sure if I'm close:

I've always thought logos were supposed to convey some quality or feeling about your business. So, I'm trying to figure out what you're saying about yourself with all the cracks and holes in your name's font and 'voiceovers' in mud or licorice pudding, or squished blueberries or whatever that is.

On first glance, it reminded me of real old magnetic tape that is starting to lose its integrity.

I like the idea of a grunge font for your logo, but another choice will probably have a better impact.

....Whaaaat???????........No microphone!!!!!.......Whaddya tryin' to do? Start a trend or sumptin?.......

...Seriously (hah!)....it certainly invokes "Jeff Kafer, The Urban Legend".....and one thing about logos to consider is how they look in black-and-white, since you'll likely have to render them one color somewhere along the way.....Peace, bro......out....... Wink

I actually purchased a logo designer's services on eBay ($20) - she created several logos for me to choose from based on my ideas for the logo - they were all very creative, in the end, the one I selected just worked best for my site design that I had been working on unbeknownst to her. There are several people selling logo designs on eBay - and she was actually the second logo designer that I used - the first one didn't communicate well, and created very boring, amateurish designs - unlike what they showed in the ebay listing - so buyer beware - that was $24 down the drain.

If you're interested in pursuing this route - PM me and I'll be happy to share more information with you.

She actually created more logo designs than the ebay listing called for, and out of 7 designs - I chose the only one with the stereotypical Microphone in the design Rolls Eyes

or ... you could use guru.com for logo creation services!

it doesn't completely suck.
but it hurts my eyes a little.
plus, when i think 'logo' i think ... uh ... logo. not name and trade.
that right there might be branding.

i get the idea ... but like deebs, i don't think the font is quite right. browse 1001freefonts.com & you'll get tons of variations on your theme. i also think the drop shadow is a bit harsh. i always create logos in gray scale first because i think you get a better feel for depth without the distraction of color. also from the old-school thought of "how is this gonna fax."

I've got a graphic designer on this doing a complete overhaul. His quote about the above logo: "It would be great if it was 1994 and overuse of Photoshop plugins was cool."

ouch. Guess I won't be quitting my day job anytime soon to go into graphic design. Smile
