Lee, at first I thought "Hey, that might almost make a cool song". But really, it's pretty lame. No one would ever record something like that. Good thing you didn't give up your day job. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

1300- take brief break from recording, check email and get request for head shot for the narrator page on one of my clients' site.. Schedule appointment to have one taken this afternoon.
1420 - complete an hour-long chapter of a very technical military history book. Lots of jargon and historical notes.
1430 - break time. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

3:35 - made it to the bus stop from the vet's office with 10 minutes to spare
3:45 - apologize to Jordan for not being able to pick her up since she didn't feel well (all while she was chewing gum, singing, being goofy and all around not sick-like :
4:00 - recorded and sent off a quick :15 sec spot that happened to pop into the e-mail box while I was waiting for the bus
4:30 - started dinner
5:00 - since it's anti-procrastination Wednesday, flipped over the couch (to look for child's long lost iPod) and actually cleaned out all the crap hiding under there (uh...yuck!)
5:30 - glass of wine in hand and checking in here
Not too much VO stuff today, but still feel like I've had a productive day _________________ Back into the murky lurk from whence I came

0800 - Up and around. Shower.
0815 - Reading, prayer, quiet time, coffee.
0915 - Emails, social media, prep work, coffee.
1000 - Press record on narration explaining public transit bus door maintenance. Riveting.
1030 - Coffee break.
1045 - Start editing while enjoying my coffee.
1130 - Project delivered. Time for coffee refill.
1200 - Lunch with family. Answer emails. Line up work for next week. Misc phone calls while sipping a cup of joe.
1330 - Nap. I'm not feeling 100%. Sinuses are ouchy.
1600 - Up from nap. I guess I was tired! Feeling better. More emails. Looks like next week will be busy. Too late in the day for coffee. Bummer.
1630 - Daughter and grandson arrive. Time to cuddle the little guy.
1730 - Dinner then email, marketing, and more phone calls.
1830 - Done for the day. Check on social media and settle in with a glass of vino. |

2:06 - got an email back from a different potential new client - could I quote on a job. Yes. Yes I can.
3:00 Get to the dog park, email from 2:30 asking if I could trim my price.
3:45 Leave dog park still debating
4:00 Get home, say yes to 3:00 client and send audio with my "repeat client" discount even though he's new. Still not sure that was the right call. Do 2 auditions for my agent - one "announcer" one "natural." Hate the natural.
4:15 Kids off the bus. My daughter's turn to audition, with the same script as I did at 4:00, while her brother takes his piano lesson and her other brother fights his urge to make noise. I like her version better.
4:45-5:45. Spend way way way too much time overthinking my "natural" audition. Scrap it and start over.
5:45 Children are complaining they're hungry. Heading downstairs to create food before the Mom Guilt (TM) throttles me.

Mandy - at the risk of a threadjack, which do you think is worse - late start or early release? We were just debating that this morning. _________________ Kendra Hoffman

I only wrote darn early release because you had! ha. I actually like it, and would like it either way, because it's a fun addition of time with the girls. It's only a bummer when I have to work. I try to keep it open so we can have adventures. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

This isn't VO related, but this particular VO artist is stepping back in a time machine this evening and heading to a lodge meeting. Hello 1965. Sons of Norway and I'm guessing I'll be the youngest there by at least 20 years. _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

0650: WE GOTTA GO! Frantic running to the bus commences.
0800: History. Teacher sounds like a droning Vulcan, but he looks slightly Native American. This was the most entertaining observation I gathered.
0915: RUN AND BUY BOOKS!
0940: Math class. Teacher has sick kids, a malfunctioning computer, and a cool Armenian name.
Woman behind me is trying very hard to make her presence known. I dominate her, telepathically.
1105: Lunch time, more like study time. I tackle a loving couple on my way to the cafeteria, all the while screaming "FOR BALDER!" The Norse deity grants me a boon; tuna sandwich.
1300: Class. Teacher has a heavy Spanish accent and is involuntarily charismatic. Class corrects 'haipohcreet' to hypocrite, only satisfied when the proper pronunciation leaves her lips. She repeats the former word within five minutes.
1425: Short break. RUN TO THE BOOKSTORE AND SORT ERRANDS!
1600: Class over. I dash toward the scholarship office, battling two jedis and a Weeping Angel on the way. The Weeping Angel is permanently banished a few years back in time to something called 'The Whoverse'.
1620: RUN TO THE BUS!
1730: Arrive at UCLA's entrance. The campus gives me flashbacks to my hometown, although UCLA is bigger. I start walking toward my destination, making sure my pheromones are in man-mode.
1731: Women have started running from me, frantically.
1805: Arrive at John Wooden Center. An agonizing wait commences
1830: The gatekeeper finally withdraws the portcullis, letting me and my partner in.
1840: Physical destruction commences. We enter the gymnastics hall and proceed to devastate our bodies. Acrobatics, gymnastics, stretching, cheerleaders; nothing escapes us.
2245: Arrive home.
2300: Searching for a plate.
2301: I end up finding a bucket and shove my dinner in it, then proceed to, bit-by-bit, empty it with a spoon.
2303: Shower.
0000: Lose consciousness. Cerberus (read, Charlie Bears) will let me know when it is time to meet the following day.
*Author's note*
It was a really long day, you guys. |

All times approximate
0930 wake up (worked way too late... into the wee hours)
10:30 after breakfast, send email to meeting organizers for meeting I'm in next week, look over advance script for a project I may get to do but won't know for three weeks yet, read emails;
11:21: phone call to producer in another city about a meeting we're having; he doesn't answer so I leave a funny msg (we're old friends)
11:30: pet cat #1
12:45: lunch
1:00 p.m. work on schedule for meeting next week and wonder how I got roped into doing this... oh yes, organizer is an old friend who sang out for help and I responded; respond to email about giving a TEDx Talk in May. Now to figure out the topic.
2:00 p.m. read materials for a show I will be writing; stooge around on the Web for some imagery to refer to in the narrative
4:00 p.m. respond to email asking about VO for a science presentation
5:00 p.m. finish writing up materials for a video we produced and are now scheduling for release in late February
5:30 p.m. wander to kitchen to see what I can make for dinner that is smushy (hubby had dental work today)
Make dinner.
Eat it.
After dinner: back to computer, get things ready to update software and back up D drive _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |
