Yes he was there. In 1914 they said it would be all over by Christmas but as it turned out they merely took a commercial break. |

Dang, Philip. Just - dang.
It's times like this and the time I talked to my friend's grandfather who was at Iwo Jima et al, that I keenly feel the tenuousness of my connection to some staggering parts of our history. A horrifying reality which I mostly understand rather abstractly, except when a direct story is told or tie revealed.
