"Turn on, Tune in, Drop out" in the way the phrase was meant: activate your mind, engage harmoniously with your environment, and cast off your habitual behavior.

Groovy, y'all.

It's a really good question, though.

OK ...it's as I suspected.... very little altruistic rationalization of the sort:

"I jus' wanna share all I know, 'cause I'm a good guy" (except Bob and maybe a couple others)

....and lots of:

"I REALLY just wanna build traffic to my website"

That's OK, it's certainly capitalistic, marketing-smart, and all-American. I'll probably do the same.... but somehow I just feel like I'm only contributing to an already-overburdened-to-the-point-of-breaking bolus of verbiage.

The sheer magnitude of it makes a tsunami of pseudo-information that washes ashore with little regard for target or "niche" but carries the trash and all the valuables with it. 'Guess that's what GOOGLE is for.

I love this forum.... sorry if any of this appears overly-cynical or lugubrious.

Courvo...!!!

(BTW, Guess I'll be adding RSS and Blog to my re-styled website... any feedback appreciated http://www.courvo.com)

hang on there. One of the reasons is for marketing your brand and business, but unless you have something interesting to say and contribute, it won't work as marketing tool.

So I guess a more appropriate answer is to say that I blog to join in on the conversation and pass along good info I find. Using it to market your business is secondary. It must be secondary to be successful at it.

Even Bob has secondary motives. By being such a helpful person and sharing insights, his traffic has grown quite a bit as he mentioned. While growing web traffic might not be his primary reason for blogging, I don't imagine he's complaining about it.
