yeah but CSS is a pain. Few browsers support it uniformly.

Looks good here on IE.
Very nice looking site... but
I had to look real close to read some of the print. Size wasn't the problem... there just wasn't enough contrast with the background color. Maybe my eyes have trouble with pastels.

Thank you sir...I'm colorblind myself so easily frustrated with such things. Is it just (as an example) the text over the background like that "the info" section on the home page? Or even the bigger text below that?

I was trying to stick to that pastel-y kind of palette to be more "web 2.0"ish

Thanks much!

Concise layout, easy navigation and a mascot. It looks like a winner to me!

I do agree with Bailey that some the text can be lost with the lack of contrast, but my young eyes and schooling in graphic design don't seem to care too much.

Nice site!

Works good on this end... looks nice too...

Just one dumb question:

How did you land on the Space-Cadet mascot logo? Do you seek cartoon voice-work? (ok, that's two questions)

Thanks Russ and Dave,

Dave, re: the mascot, he was an idea I had when originally making my comemrcial demo CD, as something that would stand out. I'd seen a bunch of demo CD artwork and I noticed a lot of similarities between them in terms of composition, style, colors, themes, etc.

I was trying to do something that stood out, that was bright, etc. I found an artist to do the style that I was looking for and I told him what I was after and he did pretty much exactly that, so I was pretty happy with it. (the rest of the CD artwork is various shades of yellow & orange; see my avatar)

Cartoon voices would be fun (and challenging), but are much further down my career path at this point. Right now I'm focusing on commercial work and, hopefully in the not-too-distant future, video game character work.

The "Hi there" info text against the orange background.
And the very bottom... pale blue "commercials" etc. against the white background. Those letters are not as dark as the "Home Bio" letters at the top.

Ok, thanks again. Maybe I'll try boosting the bottom text color 25% and reducing the background color behind the "Hi there!" text 25% as well.

Will have to wait til Monday...Adobe screwed us web devs by getting rid of ImageReady with Photoshop CS3. Thanks for making the new version worse than the old version! Fortunately, I still have the old version at work...

Nice Job Lou,

Easy to navigate, good links.

The bars extend in IE, but not Firefox.

Thanks Craig Smile

If any of you Firefoxy folk have a minute, would you check again (make sure you hit refresh in case it's still cached) and see if the top graphic stretches all the way from left to right now?

Grazie mille...

Luigi

I just checked again. The bar stretches all the way now, even when I have the browser window expanded to the whole screen.

Looks like you found the answer.

No Image Ready?

eek!

I won't be installing it on MY machine then.

Lou, think about having your little space dude face the other way— right now he's leading the viewer off the page to the left.

Seriously! It's crazy...they now force you to move stuff to Fireworks, which only works with PNGs...which Photoshop can't read layers from. It's just plain old ridiculous. Not sure why they decided to shaft a huge % of their user base like that but, yeah, stick with CS or CS2 if you already have 'em.

As for the direction my guy's facing, good point! It's so weird though...I've never seen him face that way (in that 'pose')!

It's like when you have a close friend sitting in the back seat of your car and you look at them in the rear-view mirror and they just look "wrong" that way. We don't realize how asymmetrical we are until moments like that haha.

But it's probably a good idea...I have a few other versions of him...I'll have to look through and see if I have one facing the other way that I like as much as that one.

Thanks!
