Not only that, but it truly is a #$%$ race to see who
can get their audition in the fastest sometime before the jackass
of a client stops the lead.

I've quit counting the number of proposals I've submitted to leads that haven't ever closed. What's up with that?

cool
I sort of second that. I've only been with voice123 for a short while, but it is interesting to me that by the time an email hits my mailbox touting a lead, there are already 50-60 responses. Live and learn.

We have to be logical and businesslike when looking at these sites.

If most voice overs are finding things tough. If most agents do not have enough work for all their clients. In a changing market we see people selling themselves as voice over artists who wouldn't normally see the light of day; what on earth makes us believe that putting ourselves in a crowd of largely "no- hopers" will change anything?

Get everyone you know who would like to buy a Ferrari and take them to the nearest Ferrari dealership, charge them $199. Leave them there for a year and see who leaves with the car of their dreams. Wouldn't work would it? Ah but you see because it's the internet we believe it would.

The global market and the ways of sending audio around the world means that producers/clients don't have to put up with "that'll do voices" any more, the world is their oyster.

"Hey I really suck but I'm still the only voice over for miles". A few years ago that would be enough, now it isn't. A producer who makes over 300 TV commercials per year said to me a little while ago that ISDN and new technology has raised the bar NOT lowered it. If you haven't raised your bar(game) no web site in the world is going to help you.

I've re-evaluated the work I've gotten from V123 and figure that the majority of work I've picked up through them is through private leads, people who've found me by cruising through the listings. So membership can have its privledges.
